Rule Britannia - Saturday
Assuming they are going to carry on with this, I wonder if we will start to hear choruses of Rule Britannia as the players take the knee. Sure that would be the case if the stadium was full.

General point here is that the more fuss is made about this the longer it is going to continue.

Ag that you think you’re childlike point about The gestapo and Yaxley-Lennon isn’t hysterical - even when applied in your usual sloppy manner.

Yes Cap,asking someone a genuine question in a courteous manner is now classed as hysteria.

Well spotted.

It should have come to an end when last season finished - but by making a big fuss about it you just make the case for doing it and likely prolong things.

It doesn’t hurt anyone, let it run out of steam. And no they don’t want to destroy everything.

Not important Debs but i am more than a little curious. The tiimes we live in are allegedly riddled with vile racism at every turn and it must be quashed. I would have thought that the first player in a top flight refusing to take the knee would have caused uproar? The BBC would have been bad enough but the twitter gestapo would have lost theirr minds.

This individual would have been put alongside Tommy Robinson as the biggest threat to racial harmony on the planet i would have thought.

O1bb sorry i saw a bit of footage and noticed a player stood while others were taking the knee but was only half paying attention so didnt catch the game, will try to find iut as it does seem important to you, though not sure ehy given other players have aleeady distanced themselves from the politics of this and entire team have stopped doing it.

One of most troubling things on the thread is people telling others including the players how they are reading, or should read, a symbol. All the while, repeatedly saying don't look behind the curtain.

Football was there to have 90mins of non agenda, non commitment fun, often bringing friends and family together and now..............

Again I wouldn't believe everything that's said in the press.

If truth be known I wasn't old enough to vote or even alive at the time.

I wouldn't believe everything said about him in the press Darlo.

I reckon Namibia will go from strength to strength under his rule.

No but you would have voted for Hitler, not known for his liberal attitudes and had a definite tendency to control and coercion.

Hence Mike why i said that they will probably look to change the symbol. It would rid that political.association that players have distanced themselves from.

The problem, then, lies in the assumption.

Yours, mine, everybody's.

Because people pay to watch a game of football.

If they wanted to hear/see people make political statements, they'd attend a fucking political rally instead.

Re: Rule Britannia - Saturday
Mike yes i do accept that as a valid point but the difference here is that people can still get what the symbol means and where it came from. It still about anti-discrimination and civil.rights it doesn't hold the same toxicity as a swastilka .

I daresay they may even choose a different way to mark.the campaign but as long as people boo they will just assume they are booing the message that racism.has no room.in football.
